In the middle of Feria week in San Pedro de Alcantara we found it a challenge to find anywhere to lose the car, In desperation we got to the point of needing to cancel our booking, but after nearly 20 minutes we did find a space that had just been vacated. Savor is a nicely appointed eating house with about 38 covers and a further 24 for alfresco dining. Comfortable chairs well spaced tables, quality place settings, altogether a most pleasant dining room.

The menu has some exotic tapas dishes and indeed they have a seven course tasting menu that is compiled from these, but we are here to delve into their starters, fish and meat dishes. So after much deliberation we chose to share a starter of their take on a Russian salad made with a crushed Potato and Beetroot base with Gravadlax Petals, Black Olive, Beetroot, Roe pearls and crisp bread shards. Mains were Pluma Iberica that is made from grilled strips of Iberian Pork Steak with thin slices of raw Portabella Mushrooms and small caramelised pineapple cubes in a Payoyo* and Goats Cheese Sauce, and Enchilada de Cent that is a Spider Crab with a soft shell crab Tempura in a red Thai Curry.

Dessert of Toasted Coconut milk infused Brioche with Lemongrass and Lime Ice-cream completed a memorable meal created by the Innovative Chef Pablo Castillo who achieved succulent, flavoursome dishes that I think sums up the restaurant name.

The details that all the English speaking staff go to is exemplified by Dede, one of the waitresses describing the construction of each dish and both Laura and Maitra’ D Miguel were equally as attentive showing a depth of knowledge that is often lacking in others.

Bottom line: As soon as possible is the answer to the question Will we return?

In my opinion “The best new restaurant in San Pedro this year”
