Had lunch with a good friend at his home the other day, with a few other friends: He is a very competent cook, not only was the starter good (prawns, cherry tomatoes, baby spinach and Parmesan cheese) but the roast beef was excellent as were the perfectly cooked vegetables and excellent Roasties. Receiving praise from all those assembled he told us that the dessert that he had been working hard on was indeed going to ‘blow our minds’. After some excellent cheeses, several bottles of good wine and port, the pudding wine was opened and we sat waiting with great anticipation for this wonderful dessert. In waltzed our host and unceremoniously threw the gastronomic offering into a bowl.
