It was a wet and breezy night in our ‘rainy season’, when we ventured in to the comfort of Tango in Puerto Banus to receive a warm and friendly welcome from Maitre D’ Paulo who, as per our request, sat us right by the minuscule ‘dance floor’, which in truth was only the passageway between the tables. A very pleasant, comfortable and well-equipped dining room seating about 85 is nothing like my memories of 20 odd years ago which were of a ‘very dark ill lit, uninviting room’. I’m told that the transformation happened some two years ago, and the brightly lit fascia makes it certain that you don’t miss the exterior either.

A wide-ranging menu covering the wants of most people, but it is for the Argentinean Beef in all its forms that is the principle protein here. They will cook this on a grill with other offerings such as a Shoulder of Lamb cooked in the Wood Oven, and lots of sauces and side dishes available to add to the plate.

CHAR-GRILLED MEAT THE BEST THING TO HAVE

Beside the principle menu they have two ‘Executive 2018’ menus each for a three course meal with ½ bottle wine included. Menu #1 for 37€ also includes a welcome drink, an appetiser and a liqueur after the meal. Menu #2 for 30€, as you would expect, has less options, and both include IVA: So our party of four decided to order from these and selected starters of Crab Cakes with chilly sour cream and lime, Tempura Prawns with a sweet chilly dip, and Goat’s Cheese Salad: For mains the fellers had Rib Eye with baked potato and spinach and the girls had Pork Ribs. Whilst our Steak was good the girls thought their offering was dry and lacking in flavour. The meal ended with Lemon Sorbet with Vodka, Profiteroles with Ice Cream and Hot Chocolate Sauce and Crepes.

Our waiter, Samuel was helpful and attentive and the Tango dance show was most enjoyable.

Tango is situated in Avda Julio Iglesias which is the principle inland road by the traffic lights, (the road where the cinema is) and is immediately opposite the east exit from the underground car park, and that’s the place to lose the car. Their day of rest is Monday and they open for Dinners only. Average 3 course meal with wine 45€. Reservations on 951899557
