As this restaurant was the subject of the last review I wrote back in March, I thought it appropriate to do a ‘before and after’ marking the lifting of dining restrictions in Malaga province.

Just before the declaration of a ‘State of alarm’ caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we were fortunate enough to dine at Vivo on the day that Sabina and Renee opened their new restaurant. Then came ‘Lock-down’ with all eateries having to shut their doors to the public.

Now some 100 days later, and they can once more open their doors, all be it with a few restrictions in place.

A SIGN OF THE TIMES A MASKED RENÉE AND SABINE

We eat early at 19:00h to limit our exposure to the potential number of diners that may be there, and are greeted by a ‘masked’ Sabina and Renee at the moment they are the only staff, and they reassured us that the whole

restaurant has been sanitised and, that should we use the loos these would be as well each time they were visited.

We make our choice from a ‘one-time’ disposable menu, with starters of Terrine of Foie Gras with Plums, Dates and Brioche and Crispy Fried Wild ‘Giant’ Prawns with salad and a sweet Chilly sauce. My wife also ordered this dish for her main.

Fillet of Turbot with al dente veg was for me. One thing that did not change was the food and service – they were as good as ever.

The menu consists of five starters ranging from 12€ to 18€ and two groups of mains, at 38€ with four alternatives, and a 48€ featuring Beef Filet and Wild Seabass. Both menus include a starter. To finish, choose from five of their popular desserts
