The M6 in the UK, was closed recently after a lorry carrying 32,000 litres of gin was involved in a crash and began leaking its cargo on to the carriageway.

Emergency crews worked overnight coating the spilt alcohol with foam to prevent the flammable liquid from igniting before being able to pump the remaining liquid from one container to another.

Cheshire Police said the collision caused long delays but there were no reports of injuries. Many motorists were stationary in their cars for about four hours as police turned people around on the northbound carriageway.

There is no truth to the rumour that bystanders were scooping up the offending liquid. After all, without ice, lemon and tonic — what would be the point!!
