My old pal and longtime resident here in Spain (together with New Zealand) sends us his observations.

Here in New Zealand as a result of swift tough and immediate action by the government our numbers are now very low with only 45 remaining cases, our restrictions have now dropped from level 4 total lockdown to level 2 all businesses now up and running, with restrictions mostly social distancing, we will stay at this point until the disease is eradicated here; the borders remaining closed to prevent a second wave. For my wife Patricia and I this means we remain here for as long as it takes, we would have returned to Spain mid May, the plan being to sell our very beautiful villa and retire back here in NZ;  our life like so many others is now a guessing game, with so many unknowns it is impossible to make plans, we are very grateful to be in such a beautiful and safe place however at our time of life and both of us with health issues , it is a very strange and difficult place to find ourselves stuck in, while the world around hopefully sorts its self out. Our pension pot or whats left of it, as property once again devalues, is in our villa in Spain. These I understand are luxury problems compared to so many, the whole mess is so sad and I believe unnecessary as was proven here, put people first, balancing economy alongside lives was and is, an unwinnable game, both being lost as a result.

God knows when Garry but we will see you for that drink , in happier times for all .
